More Rural Schools Coming Forward from Various County in Kenya

Thanks to the generous donations Libraries for Kids International sent to schools between September and December 2019, now more schools have come forward asking to be included in the program. Word has spread really fast as more teachers provide their contacts asking for their students to be included in the program so they can equip their libraries with reading material just so they can effectively nurture the learning culture in their school. Most of these head-teachers come from counties located in Eastern Kenya, Coast and even North East. The schools that have so far been contacted are located in areas without electricity, no internet connectivity, weak road structures, and tough terrains.

Despitethese challenges, the residents are not discouraged and continue with theirdaily activities making do with the available resources that could help theirstudents receive education just like everyone else in the country.

Heavy rains that have been pouring in many parts of the country have affected accessibility to most of these schools, but it is incredible how this has not stopped the teachers from fulfilling their responsibilities to the students.

This is a videoof teacher, Mr Muiruri, making his way to one of the rural schools during thenational examinations in November last year. The school is located a couple ofmiles from where the video and photos were taken, and the only way to get thereis via air or motorbikes.

This is justan example of some of the challenges the rural residents experience every dayand it is a blessing to them to receive books from people who support theirdreams of a brighter future.
